RETREAT AT KRIPALU: THE BLISS WITHIN
July 27 @ 6:00 PM - August 1 @ 6:00 PM
THE BLISS WITHIN–Reclaim Your Authentic Self
YOGA, MANTRA, AND MEDITATION TO PURIFY THE SUBTLE BODY
JULY 27 – AUGUST 1, 2025
Authenticity is essential for our own mental and physical health. According to the wisdom traditions, our true nature is perfect bliss. We all possess basic human goodness and pure, radiant hearts. But life in this human realm can obscure these truths. Through our own cultural and societal conditioning—and/or through the need to simply survive within our own family systems—we start to take on aspects of personality that are not even real, and certainly not authentic. Instead of acknowledging and embracing our true selves, we expend energy trying to become someone else. And then we can even start to dislike ourselves and the world around us.
What many don’t realize is that these attitudes and patterns have a profound effect on our energy bodies (also known as our subtle bodies) and vice versa. According to Sowa Rigpa (Tibetan medicine), our channels can become compromised or blocked and our energy currents can be “rerouted” due to destructive thought patterns, habituated trauma-responses, etc. This, in turn, leads to further complications—confusion, depression, anxiety, anger, illness, grief, etc. Some of our vital protective energy can even get “lost” through traumas or chronic illness or stress.
The good news is, there are many simple methods from the energy-healing branch of Sowa Rigpa—including gentle yogas, chanting, meditation, and self-massage–that help restore the health of the subtle body and allow bliss to arise and true transformation to take place. And when we are able to embody our true selves, we can help to create a more balanced, just, and compassionate world.
Join devotional singer, author, and Buddhist ngakma Lee (Mirabai) Harrington for a unique and uplifting experiential program designed to reboot our frazzled energy systems and allow our true, unstained natures and radiant energy bodies to emerge.
In this 5-day program, you will:
– Learn rare, simple and profound healing practices from the ancient “Spiritual/Energy Healing” branch of Tibetan medicine, including: Nejang self-healing yoga, healing meditations, therapeutic lunar bLA massage, breathwork, and mantra-healing therapy.
– Enjoy daily satsang (and kirtan) and learn how to chant rare healing mantras from the Tibetan medical tradition. Chanting helps purify our speech and enhances our abilities to communicate truthfully with ourselves and others.
– Learn basic Buddhist principles from a Tibetan medical perspective and how these principles can serve as a guide to lead a happier life
– understand how our own attitudes have an impact on our energy body and thus our physical/mental health.
– Gain a basic understanding of the subtle body–and the various energy channels and types and currents of energies—and learn potent pranayama techniques which purify the main channels of the energy body.
– Cultivate an awareness and understanding of your own unique typology, and how this typology informs your physical, mental, and emotional habituations.
– Cultivate the ability to recognize if/when the energy bodies might be compromised and how to regulate yourself with self-massage.
– Learn how to engage in compassionate self-inquiry; to explore your own mind—your beliefs, your patterns and habituations, your struggles, your joys—and begin to discern which aspects of self are your true, authentic and actual nature, and which can be let go.
– Learn to access (and trust) your own inner wisdom and learn to truly love and accept yourself.
– Receive inspired teachings and practical tools—of healing, rejuvenation, and renewal— that you can integrate into your daily life. Establish new habits and rituals of daily self-care, self-love, forgiveness and healing.
– Learn how to recognize and release subtle patterns of grasping, striving, judging and comparing and allow our energies to flow in the proper directions (of love, acceptance, interdependence, etc.)
– Practice rejuvenation techniques to purify what Buddhists call our “Three Gates” of Body, Speech and Mind.
– Learn how to activate the subtle energies that bring a sense of wholeness, belonging, and true authentic perfection to all aspects of your life.
– Participants will leave with a deepened understanding of how we can reclaim agency over our own health and well-being, and how we can use our own minds and bodies as healing supports. When we purify ourselves at subtle levels, the effects are profound. Our relationships with ourselves, others, and the world are improved. And once we are all able to express ourselves with full, unobscured authenticity, this world will become a more balanced, just, and compassionate realm.
NOTE: Lee will offer a special mantra-healing kirtan on Wednesday evening, August 30th, for the Kripalu community.
Please bring clothing appropriate for various activities: gentle movement, self-massage with oil, outdoor walks and meditation.
