We invite you to experience the potency of Nejang Yoga—a simple but profound self-healing practice from the traditions of Sowa Rigpa and Tibetan Buddhism that helps to purify afflictions and ailments at the level of the subtle body. \nAlso known as Tibetan rejuvenation yoga or Tibetan longevity yoga\, Nejang (which translates as “cleaning the energy sites in the body”) is a Tibetan practice that combines pranayama\, gentle movement\, and self-massage. \nIn this profoundly healing retreat\, you learn: \n\nEmpty-body meditation\, to expand awareness of yourself beyond the physical body and activate the innermost healing state\nVajra chanting to purify your innermost “secret” obstacles of body\, speech\, and mind\nNinefold purification breathing\, another subtle body practice that purifies the three poisons of anger\, attachment\, and ignorance\nNejang self-healing yoga to help restore health\, balance\, and energetic flow at the level of the subtle body (thereby helping to purify the root causes of physical\, mental\, and emotional issues)\n\nNejang Yoga has been shown to help alleviate depression and anxiety\, improve digestion\, calm the nervous system\, restore balance\, cultivate states of peace\, maintain good health\, extend the lifespan\, and deeply transform your mind. \nYou also learn and practice simple healing meditations\, visualization\, and pranayama to help activate the profound states of healing and bliss that exist within. In Sowa Ripga\, there is a branch of energy-healing called mantra-healing which uses specific Tibetan and Sanskrit mantras to initiate healing states\, remove subtle-body blockages\, and restore balance and energetic flow at physical\, mental\, and subtle levels. With mantra healing\, we are using the vibrations of the mantra to affect the vibrations of our own physical\, mental\, and subtle body systems\, with the aim of restoring balance\, maintaining health\, pacifying afflictions\, and preventing future illnesses and imbalances. \nIn this supportive and nurturing weekend immersion\, Lee Mirabai Harrington will teach a few public mantras from the Sowa Rigpa “mantra pharmacy\,” each of which can help pacify the mind\, balance the chakras\, clear obstacles and obscurations\, cultivate states of inner stillness and peace—even amidst the chaos of life—and find true ground\, presence\, and support within one’s own body. \nIn this program\, you will: \n\nPractice kirtan (call-and-response chanting) and sing devotional mantras from the Buddhist and Hindu traditions.\nExplore the practices of mantra recitation (speech-level spoken chants) and silent chanting (inner chanting).\nExperience their effects on the energy channels of the subtle body.\nReceive guidance and instruction for home practice.\n\nThis is a program of deep self-care\, rejuvenation\, joy\, and relearning how to gently return to our true selves. We will practice simple methods that can activate profound states of healing and bliss that exist within us all. The practice of mantra-healing can help us transform negative emotions (such as anxiety\, depression\, and PTSD) and heal core wounds. Devotional chanting helps to open our hearts\, awaken our own innate divine qualities\, and reconnect with our own true and unstained selves—our own authentic natures.
